Four Tips to Make Childrens Wetsuit Shopping Easier

Your family is about to go on a trip. And a part of your agenda is to go to the beach. There is
one problem though. You are not going somewhere sunny and warm. The place where you’re headed to is notorious for
its cold weather and consequently cold water. As such, you have decided to buy a childrens wetsuit that can let her
enjoy swimming even with the chilly water.
So you head out, thinking that the shopping is going to be easy. But as you arrive in the
department stores you got surprised with the choices you’ve got. There are simply too many styles and colors to
choose from. The question now is how would you know which ones will be perfect for your children?
So to help you out, here are some tips that you can use on purchasing your childrens wetsuit.
1. Know how much insulation your children need.
Neoprene used in a childrens wetsuit can come anywhere in between 1.5 mm to 7 mm. For wetsuits, the thicker the
neoprene, the warmer it becomes. So if your children are going to a beach in a warm or tropical area, the suits of
thinner variety should be enough. Of course it follows that the beach they are going to will be extremely chilly,
you should be getting them the thicker variety.
2. Identify the activities that your children will get engaged to.
A Childrens wetsuit usually come in two varieties: the full body suits and the “shortie.” Full body suits as
implied are suits that provide protection from neck to ankle. These suits are perfect for activities such as scuba
diving and long distance swimming.
On the other hand, “shorties” are suits with short sleeves and the length of the pants only come up to mid thigh.
While these wetsuits do not really provide much insulation and protection from the sun, they can be quite perfect
for activities such as surfing and “regular” swimming because they can give your children more freedom to move.
3. Take your children with you while shopping. Why is this necessary?
This is necessary because a childrens wetsuit only work if they fit your children snuggly. Remember, the insulation
comes from the water that gets trapped in between the suit and your children’s body. So if that water gets replaced
every time your children come up for air, then the purpose of the wetsuit is defeated.
4. Look for comfort and wearability features.
If you are choosing childrens wetsuits for toddlers or babies that cannot dress/ undress themselves yet, then it
will be best for you to choose wetsuits that have zippers or Velcro. These will make it easier for you to change
them whenever needed.
You may also want to pick a childrens wetsuit with bright and vibrant colors for two reasons: one, for your
children to enjoy wearing them and two, for you to spot them immediately if needed.
Those are some tips that you can use while shopping. As long as you keep them in mind, then you can be sure to go
home with a wetsuit that will be perfect for your child’s needs.
