Children's Wetsuits

Children's wetsuits are more than just something that guards against the chilly waters. With the
different kids wetsuit brands available today, they are more common on our shores than ever before. They have
become a beach fashion accessory as well as a practical article for the water.
Not only are wetsuits being worn more at the beach, but now you can even find kids wearing wetsuits in swimming
pools, both indoors and out!
Children's Wetsuits are offered in an ample variety of colours and designs. You can get
full wetsuit styles, shorty wetsuits, hooded jackets, wetsuit vests, to name a
few. You can also get childrens accessories to go with the suit like; rash vests, booties, hoods and neoprene
gloves.
As well as the styles, you will find childrens wetsuits specially designed for surfing, scuba diving, yachting,
body boarding and even childrens triathlon wetsuits.
The wetsuit does do an excellent task at keeping junior warm, by trapping a thin layer of water between the
neoprene material and the child’s skin. This layer of water is then heated by the body, so it pays to get a good
fitting wetsuit, so the heat and water doesn’t escape frequently. The wetsuit should be firm, but not as tight as
too restrict breathing or too much movement when playing water sports.
Most children's wetsuits have a thicker torso section and thinner arm and leg materials, such as
a 4/3 wetsuit. This is 4mm thick in the body area and 3 mm thick in the arm and leggings, which allows more
movement in water sports such as surfing or body boarding for the kids.
The new junior wetsuits are easier to put on and take off than ever before, with the flexible material and better
zippers and fasteners. This is great for quick dips in the ocean, if you haven’t got much time too muck around
trying to put the wetsuit on.
As well as the insulating properties of a child's wetsuit, it is also an extra aid for poor or
tired swimmers as it has good buoyancy. This depends on the thickness of the material, but a wetsuit can help out
in the rough surf. Obviously children should be supervised near the water at all times, but a wetsuit does give a
little bit of extra security in the water.
Another important reason for wearing a wetsuit to the beach for youngsters is they also help stop painful jelly
fish stings on the bare skin. In tropical areas and jelly fish prone oceans, a wetsuit is a good investment for the
child.
Sharp coral, jagged stones and other ocean debris can also pose a risk to bare skin, a wetsuit
helps minimize these due to the protective layer of material.
Childrens wetsuits were only once connected with water sports such as surfing, but now they have become standard
beachwear apparel and a fashionable icon in the water.
