The Springsuit?

Wetsuits Online

Springsuit - A wetsuit is essentially a protective gear that a person can use underwater during diving, swimming, surfing, wakeboarding or boat riding.

The following outlines the different wetsuits and their points of differences. In essence, the types differ in shapes and not as much in the material used for to make the suit.

Nevertheless, the differences in shapes lead to other differences like the level of protection, degree of insulation and amount of comfort.

• Sleeveless Wetsuit Vest. Among the type, this one provides the smallest amount of protection. As such, this is an additional gear that should be worn along with other suits.

• Wetsuit Jacket. Jacket provides protection for the torso and the arms.

• Beavertail. This one uses a fastener to attach the flap protecting the crotch. This is also an additional gear as it is not able to provide sufficient amount of protection when worn alone.

• Farmer John Wetsuit / Farmer Jane Wetsuit. This provides covering for the torso and legs only.

• Full Wetsuit. Among he different types of wetsuits, this one provides the maximum protection because it covers the whole body, including the arms and legs.

• Springsuit. This may have short or long sleeves bur the cover is until the above of knees only.

One of the most commonly used wetsuit in skateboarding and wakeboarding is the springsuit. Spring suits are more commonly known by the name shorty wetsuits. The name is from the short sleeves and short pants that come standard with a spring suit.

As already hinted, the springsuit is also made from neoprene. Neoprene is the material that makes buoyancy and thermal insulation possible. Compared with a long suit though, a shorty has limited protection available because of its shorter length. In cole water temperatures that require extended immersion, wearing a shorty is not available because the legs, and possibly even the arms if you are wearing short sleeves, are not protected.

Springsuits come in different designs and colors. Some are plain, while others have patterns. There are suits for men and women alike. The most common colours include blue, gray, black and shades of pink. Unlike long suits, the springsuit is cheaper. They can be bought for less than $150 from many e-stores and local stores.

The standard thickness for a shorty is 3mm, but there are also those that have 2mm thickness. If you are to choose which shorty to buy, it is advisable that you get the one with extra feature to achieve maximum comfort. These include the seamless feature, adjustable collar, back zip and spine pad (also called the zipper seal).

The springsuit like other wetsuits are different sizes available: XS, S, M, L, and XL. As the suit made of neoprene tends to be fit with the skin, you may experience a little discomfort if you are not careful with choosing the size.

It is always better to go for the perfect size, not too small and not extra spacious. Neoprene- made suits are typically fit but once underwater, there should be no problems or discomfort when worn.
